carpool (carpooling)ってご存じですか？

僕が初めてこの単語に出会ったのは約40年前

アメリカ留学とホームステイの手配をする書類の中で

大学へのアクセスの欄に書いてありました

日本ではあまり馴染みがないので、ぴったりの日本語が

見つからないのですが「車の乗り合い」のようなものです

知人、友人たちがそれぞれの自分のクルマを出すかわりに

１台のクルマで交代で運転することです

Carpooling is when a group of people share a ride in a single vehicle to save money, reduce environmental impact, or make commuting more convenient. carpool の pool はswimming pool の pool（水たまり）とは異なり

「出し合う、共同出資する」のような意味を持ちます
